lim·i·nal·i·ty [lim-uh-nal-i-tee] : noun , a transitional period or phase of a rite of passage.

Presented by the Summer 2012 Acting Interns, the [space] between is  a collection of scenes  revolving around transitions and our ability to embrace fear and uncertainty as we move forward. 

These scenes include classics by Sophocles and Beckett, as well as contemporary scenes focusing on the “in between” times, some of which were written by the current interns themselves.

SZALENE ANTHONY is very excited to have participated in Looking Glass Theatre's Summer Acting Internship. She is a recent graduate of Albright College with a BA in Theater and Psychology. Her favorite college credits have been Arcadia (Hannah Jarvis), Our Lady of 121st Street (Norca), and the world premiere of You Are Here (Dolores). She will be featured in the upcoming film Audition as Woman. She would like to thank her ever so patient mother, family and friends for their support. Also, thank you to Looking Glass Theatre for this opportunity.

ALLIE FUNK is a recent graduate of the University at Buffalo, where she studied Theatre, Psychology, and Media Studies. Previous shows include Marat/Sade, The Vagina Monologues, One for the Road, Play On!, The Real Inspector Hound, and All in the Timing, among others.  Allie has also performed in several short films, video projects, and the feature film Let Them Have Their Way. She is delighted to be a part of the Summer 2012 Acting Internship at Looking Glass. Many thanks to my family, the Looking Glass team, and my fellow interns!

LAUREN FRIEDLANDER is so thrilled to be a member of Looking Glass Theatre's Summer Acting Internship Ensemble! You can catch her in Kipuka Theatre's production of FaustX this Fall. TRACY HOWARD -  who recently graduated from Muhlenberg College, is excited to embark on theatre in New York City.  She made her New York debut earlier this summer in Something Outrageous and has had a blast learning and working with Looking Glass Theatre. Tracy wants to give a special thanks to the Looking Glass community and to her friends and family.

YASMEEN JAWHAR is a recent graduate from Barnard College where she studied theater, concentrating in performance. She loves collaborative works, dark themes, and a touch of nonsense. Recent roles include Wendy in A Wendy Story at Under St. Mark's Theater, the title character in Jose Rivera's Marisol, and the evil hunchbacked doctor Mathilde von Zahnd in Durrenmatt's The Physicists.

KAITLIN NOBLE is proud to be a part of this Summer Acting Intern Showcase! You may have seen her recently at the UCBeast Del Close Marathon with the Sketchy Character Improv Team. Past works include Circle Mirror Transformation (Theresa), The Fifth of July (Shirley), The Method (Christine), and The Crucible (Elizabeth).

SAMANTHA SIMONE is thrilled to be a Summer Intern at Looking Glass and to be a part of this showcase. Samantha is currently a Sophomore at Ramapo College studying theater and elementary education. Favorite roles include: Blood Wedding (Wife), Laundry and Bourbon (Amy Lee), Parlor Games (Tricia), along with many others! Samantha is also a dancer for Powerhouse Studios and MJXpressions! She would like to thank Gretchen, Summer 2012 Looking Glass Interns, family and friends for all of their continued support!

AMY STRINGER is thrilled to be a part of this summer's Looking Glass Showcase! Originally from northern California, Amy is a rising senior at Barnard College where she is studying English and Theatre. She recently returned from a study abroad program at the British American Drama Academy in London, where she played a Zumba-dancing Lovespotter in an adaptation of Tristan and Yseult. Other Barnard credits include The Crucible, The Lonely Play and Top Girls. Thank you so much to everyone at Looking Glass for such a rewarding summer!

GRETCHEN FERRIS (Director/Instructor) is a director/casting director working out of New York City. NY directing credits include: Inside the Three-O-Nine, Back in the Box, Sidewalk Cracks (Looking Glass Forum), Romeo & Juliet, Chains of Dew (Zephyer Rep/Wings Theatre), Lysistrata (Phare Play Productions), Perplex Appeal (NyLon Fusion), Wincing at the Light (Love Creek), Denial: Time to Face the Musical (Concert Reading) and readings of Dinner at Seven (Manhattan Shakespeare Project) and Odbody (The Parachute Plays). She works with wojcik|seay casting and holds theatre degrees from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Florida State University and the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
