Cast Bios
Christie Booker (Mother Troll, Forrest Hag, Tomte): Christie has had a blast working on this show. She was last seen in the 8 minute play festival with Turtle Shell production. She moved to the city after completing her MFA from University of Arkansas and working with Climb Children's Theatre in MN. Favorite past credits include Shape of Things, Tartuffe, Top Girls, A Bright Room called Day and Lucky Stiff. She wishes to thank her family and friends. She dedicates this performance to her Grandmother and all those who are young at heart.
Jonas Dickson (Prince): Jonas graduated with a BFA in theatre from the University of Wyoming. He was an original member of the Wyoming Shakespeare Company and toured with them for four seasons. Previous roles include Romeo, Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Androcles in Androcles and the Lion, and Bartley in The Cripple of Inishmaan. This is Jonas's first performance in New York City.
Amber Ford (Johanna Johnson): Amber is pleased to be making her Looking Glass Theater debut. She received her BFA in acting from Stephens College. She would like to thank the cast and crew for making the show such a wonderful experience.
Megan Raye Manzi (Alva): Megan was last seen as Hope in the New York production of The Lost Project. A graduate of Emerson College, Megan performed many roles in the Boston area. Some favorites include: Desdemona in Othello, The Girl in The Hot L Baltimore, and Susannah in A Murder of Crows. She thanks her family for all their support and Luke, her real life hero, for his constant encouragement.
Daniel Meredith (Ole): Daniel is happy to be in this production with Looking Glass. An Alabama native, Not Enough Princesses is Daniel's first show in New York City. Regional and Stock credits include: Crazy For You, Hello Dolly, Mame, Big Time Burlesque, The Desert Song, Unto These Hills. Other favorite roles include: Hamlet, As You Like It, The Tempest, Midsummer Night's Dream, La Ronde, Dancing at Lughnasa, Noises Off, Art, Complete Wrks. Of Wlm. Shkspr (abridged), Closer Than Ever, Abundance, Moon Over Buffalo, and many others. BA, Auburn University Montgomery; MFA, University of Alabama. Daniel would like to thank Justen and Naomi for their love and support, and his sister Laura, for the inspiration to play a child.
Marissa Michaels (Percussionist): Marissa is enjoying NY life. A Pennsylvania farm girl at heart, she has worked with The Philadelphia Irish Repertory Theatre, CVP Communications, Rite Aid, Motorola, NBC, and Hershey Park. Thanks to the cast and crew! Marissa would like to dedicate this performance to Aunt Linda.. "plug in the #@!&%^ phone!"
Jeremy Procopio (Jerker Johnson): Jeremy recently came to New York from Lakeland, Florida. He is enjoying the city, particularly his opportunity to be working at The Looking Glass. Some of his favorite credits include Grease (Sonny), The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Peter), Picnic (Alan), and Fiddler on the Roof (Motel). He would like to send a special thanks to his parents for always being so supportive. (I love you, guys.)
Sam Rolen (King, Troll King, Bear): Sam has a BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He spent three years training at the Stella Adler Studio if Acting. Recently he played Mayola in Trailer Park Broadcasting Scandals and Enobarbus in Antony and Cleopatra. He is seeking representation and is excited to be working at the Looking Glass Theatre. He would like to thank Dan, Evan, and his whole family – I love you guys.
Crew Bios
Shari Johnson (Director) has previously directed five productions at the Looking Glass: M, Muncie and Mayhem, The Girls of the Five and Ten, and an original spoof of Romeo and Juliet. Her most recent production at Looking Glass was the children's play Keats in Curlers. Ms. Johnson has also directed for the Haven at the Lamb's Theatre, Theatre-Studio Inc, and several original pieces for artist and church collectives. She has assistant directed for the Vital and the Adhesive Theater Companies. Of Swedish descent herself, the practicality and imagination of Swedish culture is near and dear to her heart.
Julia Martin (Assistant Director/Stage Manager) teaches acting and directing at the New York Film Academy, Columbia University, and St. Johns University. As a member of La Mama's Great Jones Repertory Company, she has performed extensively in NY, Europe, and Asia. She premiered the role of Antigone in Ellen Stewarts acclaimed production last spring. Most recently, this summer she wrote and directed the short film, “Aftermath”. She received her MFA in theatre from Columbia University and her BA from Brown University.
Nikki Rothenberg (Assistant Director/Stage Manager) graduated from Emerson College in May with a BA Theater Studies degree in Directing and Costuming. At Emerson she had the opportunity to direct several shows, including Into The Woods for the Musical Theater Society, Bash: A Gaggle of Saints by Neil Labute, and The Cradle Will Rock for Emerson Stage's Greene Theater Series. Since she has come to New York she has been a production assistant for Closer Than Ever with Halfway Home Productions, and an assistant director/stage manager for Concrete Temple Theatre's production of Snow White. Nikki would like to thank the cast and crew for making this show a great experience.
Bokyoung Youn (Set Design) has been working as a set designer since her first work Under Pressure in Staller Center in Stony Brook University (2003). Most of her work done in off- broadway theatre such as American Livingroom Festival 2003 at Here art Center, Popera Rain in Kaye Play House (2005), and Sniper in Center Stage(2005). She also taught children acting in an after school class from Korean American Family Service Center.
Brenda Renfroe (Costume Design) has over 20 years experience in the field of Costume Design. With a BA in Drama and Theatre from the University of Hawaii, she moved to New York City where she costumed over 50 productions including A Field in Heat, Thérèse, The Music Man, The Mikado, Show Boat, Picnic, Pirates of Penzance, The Most Happy Fella, and Kismet. She is also a Wardrobe/Stylist for motion pictures, commercials and corporate communications. She is thrilled to costume for The Looking Glass Theatre where she brings her love of period costumes to life. Brenda lives in Connecticut with husband, Bud, a writer/director, and their thespian daughters, Michele and Kara.
James Bedell (Light Design) is proud to be the resident lighting designer for the Looking Glass Theater as well as a freelance designer all over NYC. A varied sampling of recent credits include: Falling Petals (Pace U.-Schaeberle Studio), Melancholia/Dis-ease (Looking Glass Theatre), Bizarre Science Fantasy (Brick Theater), The Snow Queen (Looking Glass Theatre), The Fall Collection (CSV, LaTea), A Christmas Carol (Northern Stage, VT), Cocktails With Coward (Northern Stage, VT), Camino Real (Pace U.-Schimmel Center), Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Pace U. Schimmel Center). James is thrilled to have this opportunity to work with such a talented and dedicated group of artists.
